i have a dear student who is moving to *asia* this next month and i will truly miss her. she is the hardest working woman i've ever met and i've met a lot of hard working women! she is so intelligent; she got a great job and really deserves to be happy wherever she goes, and i'm excited for her. but, like all these amazing kids who graduate and move on, it's a little bittersweet for me to see them go. too, i did not intend to be at my university NINE years after i graduated! but that's for another post...
anyway, dear kimi tells me today about her internship in japan this year.
she was not impressed with the head of the company there playing video games on his phone
during a company meeting, and she told him as much.
...you don't do that in japan, tell the boss that he needs to shape up, just fyi...
...and that is why kimi rocks...
k, so she's telling me about the internship and she says, in speaking of some of her coworkers this summer,
"men need to be trained, that's all. they need to be trained. just like monkeys."
and she was dead serious, not being facetious or anything. and i doubt that any man, should one have been near, would've even been insulted, she said it completely matter-of-fact. i was laughing so hard, i nearly slipped on the pathetic mist of snow left over from what looked to be a fantastic winter storm this morning but that wimped out by noon.
i love my students.
