hullo again...

It's been way too long. I am not handling the single mom thing well at all. Don't know how real single moms do it. Luckily we are in week 8 of 10 weeks of craziness wherein T gets loads of money for teaching extra classes and I get to be a prudent (read: miserly) wife and pay off old grad school bills like no one's business. In fact, I listened to this report on my beloved NPR (which i noticed (this morning as I started the car and had to hurry and turn down the radio) I listen to quite loudly, much like one of those super-devoted democrat/republicans who listen to talk radio which anyone within a quarter mile can hear clearly through their car. but I'm not ashamed; NPR is *not* frenetic so it's ok, I'm just kinda hard of hearing in my old age.) this morning and found myself agreeing, angrily, or really more self-righteously about some tea party-elected guy who's threatening to continue these two week extensions of the budget thing that the government's been doing to forestall a government shutdown (but only just) until satisfactory budget cuts are agreed upon. Go you, random NPR interviewee! Let's start living within our means, shall we? I actually don't know enough about government or economics to get to have an opinion on this. Back to the single mom thing. I am trying to make the most of T's second job and have really buckled down and am making headway. Imagine the guilt one feels when listening to their boys hug T goodnight on Sundays and say, "k, see you Friday dad!" It's really not *that* bad: they see him Wednesdays too. And I *am* frenetic about the debt elimination. So much so that I gleefully paid a ridiculous majority of my last paycheck toward one bill before I realized that I hadn't yet paid rent or childcare. A little over the top? Maybe. Want my kids to have their dad back? Definitely.

Anyway, it's been a while but I guess I have an ok excuse. The boys are well and I have many pictures waiting to be uploaded and posted so this won't be a lame blog anymore.

Quick highlights:

KEO WENT POTTY ON THE TOILET LAST NIGHT! AND POOP! (Don't worry, there is no picture to be posted for that.) He just decided he would and he did. And I nearly cried. If I didn't already have so many shortcomings as a mom, I would totally pick a favorite child and it would be him. But I have no room for more failures so they're all three my favorites still. Phew.
The boys decided one day - out of the clear blue sky - that they now like karate and wish to work for their black belts. WHAT?? I nearly drove my car off the road when Jojo popped that on me. Tomorrow they get their brown belt with yellow stripe and they're soooo excited. They have to go through all the colors again with their brown belt and then they have to test for their black. So we're looking at a few more years but with a better attitude, this is going to be wonderful!
The big boys and I finished off the Percy Jackson series and are now contemplating the 39 Clues or Harry Potter series. Keo is obsessed with The Caboose Who Got Loose, Engine Engine Number 9, and any and all Thomas the Tank Engine books. Finally all three boys love books!

seriously. pictures are coming. seriously.

Glad to see you back and my goodness; a brown belt already and poop in the toilet. Noah did the poop and pee thing once, but I want to wait a bit to potty train him. He will eventually get it, at least before he is in Kindergarten :)
