WorldFest!

k, it's over. all done for another 365 days. well, 364, but who's counting? me.

oh man, it was amazing. the kids i work with are *the* best international students at any university anywhere. the emcee was adorable; we chose her for her darling South African accent and i was so glad she accepted - there's a lot more to her than her awesome voice! the students and performing groups worked so hard, practiced on their own for hours and hours and pulled off a completely wonderful night. my crew was absolutely perfect, had everyone lined up in time, 'cept karate, but their performance was amazing anyway so that's ok. my crew kept checking to see what could be done and the whole thing was just so perfect!

so now i want to travel to 38 of the 39 countries displayed. (Hawaii was one of our "countries" represented. my emcee was horrified to realize, as she exited the stage before the modern hula, that she had called Hawaii a country. i thought it was hilarious.) China, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Vietnam, Syria, Madagascar, Togo, Paraguay, Philippines, Guatemala, Finland, Japan, New Zealand, Mauritius, Nigeria, Honduras, Benin, Russia, Korea, Mali, Nepal, Chile, Pakistan, Bolivia, India, Cuba, Tahiti, South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, Egypt, Peru, Mexico, Ethiopia...not necessarily in that order, perhaps in a slightly more cost effective progression, but maybe zigzagging would be the best way to do it! someday. i'm so glad T wants to travel as much as i do. now we just need to double our salaries so we can jump on a plane.

i wasn't the least bit impressed with the food, but oh well. and the sound guy was awful this year so i will be contacting his boss to mention that next year we would like a sound guy who is not texting as i am yelling desperately into my headset, "fade out. fade out. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL HIM TO FADE OUT??"

for the past two years that i've done this, i've finished and said, "i don't think i'll head this committee next year." and then i start writing notes and suggestions for the next year. this third year, i only said it once. and while i may have thought it many times, i seriously can't *wait* for next year. i want to see how much better and better we can make it!

and Sis, apparently the 300+ cookies and brownies we made for backstage were gone in minutes. thanks for that. it was obviously a good thing!

Honduras.They were my favorite.
Vietnam. They were my favorite.
Korea. They were my favorite.
Japan. She was my favorite.
Chile. They were my favorite.
Lithuania. She was my favorite.
Philippines. They were my favorite.
New Zealand. K, they were seriously everyone's favorite.
Thailand. They were my favorite.
