Love my dad. The very best way I've heard him described, the way that suits him perfectly, is "salt of the earth." He is unpretentious, he is kind to everyone.
He loves to laugh.
The things that made me roll my eyes at him when I was a teenager are the things that I am so proud of him for as an adult.
One thing I've always been proud of him for is his service to our country.
He joined the Navy, sailed through the Bermuda Triangle (a fact that Kai thinks is the cooooolest thing ever), to Europe, and Vietnam, getting other servicemen where they needed to be.
It's Veteran's Day and I am so happy to know that my dad is one of the many reasons that we are free, that we are safe.
Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Veterans.
On a not so positive note. I want to hand out sunglasses to all the people out there who trash our military/country to help them see through the blinding irony that our Servicemen and Servicewomen are the very reason they have any rights whatsoever to voice their ignorant views.
But let's keep it positive, people. ;)
