So yesterday in church, Jo was being naughty and noisy and generally behaving the way he always behaves at church. (We go with the whole, "keep 'em going every Sunday, don't give up, one day they'll feel it or they'll at least get into the habit" method in regards to church attendance/indoctrination/however-the-heck-you-teach-kids-about-religion stuff)
T: "Jo, you need to calm down. This is the time when you should be thinking of Jesus."
Jo: "Dad, Jesus Christ can't even understand what I'm saying, he speaks Hebrew."
It would appear that he either missed the whole "Jesus knows you and loves you and is always there for you," thing we taught in some obviously lame Family Home Evening. Or we neglected to actually teach that admittedly vital bit of doctrine. Probably the latter. No wonder he - EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY - acts surprised and annoyed when we tell him it's church day. What the heck is he there for if he's speakin' the wrong language??
