OK, so I don't care that I am old. It's actually kinda fun. Amy told me once that she'd heard that your 30's are possibly the best decade of your life. I've liked it so far for the most part, except for the actual birthDAYS, but even those are smoothing out. Jojo had a massive seizure on my 30th birthday, we were in a mess I never thought we'd get out of on my 31st, my 32nd was quite mild and pleasant and this year I will be thrilled with my 33rd so long as little Kenji decides to debut that day or any day after until the 31st at which time he is officially overdue (even though his due date is actually Jan 17th...and by the way, Kenji is not the official name but it's really growing on me)
So ANYWAY, I wrote earlier that I love my job. I work with a bunch of men a few decades older than me and a bunch of girls at least a decade younger than me. And they are all great people. I wouldn't trade my job for anything but a relaxing (HAHAHA) life as a stay-at-home-mom.
So ANYWAY, ANYWAY, to finally get to the point. I'm getting some paperwork in the main office today when one of the darling 20-somethings, Tuni, says, "am I supposed to know who Boy George is?" I burst out laughing and can't really answer because, really, is she supposed to know? So my boss hears me laughing, asks what's up, and I say, "did you hear what Tuni just said?" I go back into my office and then the head secretary says, "seriously, who is Boy George?" Holy goodness. So my director trys to explain it but really he's not easy to explain, you know? And possibly not worth the discussion anyway. So this makes me curious and I ask the girls if they were alive when the Berlin Wall came down? Nope. When the Challenger exploded? Nope. I stopped with those two but WOW! I just asked R., "what about Tianamen Square?" and she said, "I've heard of it, but I don't know if I was alive." "what about when the USSR broke apart?" Nope.
I'm sure that this is something commonplace in "adulthood." My mother would cry if she knew (sorry if you're reading this mom) that I didn't know the names of all four Beatles until I was in my 20's and only then because she actually said something about a friend's kid who didn't (oh the horror) know all the names so I hurried and looked it up. I was probably alive for the "end" of the Vietnam War but just. No assassination of JFK, no Sputnik, Neil Armstrong, the Pill, Woodstock, etc.
Tuni just made my day! And here's a bunch of stuff that you may have heard of. And captions in case you weren't yet born or able to read when they happened...

ha ha, that made ME feel OLD and I am six years younger than you! lol!
I miss you; you're the best!
Um, I WAS alive when the Berlin wall came down, and moved to Germany six months after. Exactly how old ARE the girls in the office now, 'cause Court and I aren't THAT ancient!
